For Sydney Homeowners Renovating Bathrooms, Balconies & Laundries

Once the tiles go on, nobody can ever check your waterproofing again.

An independent waterproofing inspector checks your renovation at the one stage that matters — after the membrane is applied, before the tiles cover it. We work for you, not your builder. Photo evidence report delivered same day.

Waterproofing is the most common serious building defect in NSW

It's also the only part of your renovation that gets sealed away forever. Wiring can be re-opened. Plumbing can be traced. But once your tiler starts laying, the waterproofing underneath can never be looked at again — and if it fails, it fails years later, through your ceiling, your floor, or the room below.

Most homeowners tell us the same thing: they trusted their tradie, saw the membrane go on, and never thought to ask for a flood test or an independent check. "That didn't even come to my mind" is the sentence we hear most — usually after it's too late to matter.

Booked around your tiler's schedule

1

Tell us your timing

Waterproofing done, tiler booked? We work to that window — usually within 48 hours. If you're still planning, we'll tell you exactly when in the schedule to slot us in.

2

We inspect, independently

Membrane coverage, corners and junctions, terminations, falls to the waste — checked against AS 3740, the Australian standard for wet area waterproofing. We can also attend and document your waterproofer's flood test.

3

Same-day evidence report

A dated, photo-documented record of exactly what's under your tiles — with anything that doesn't match the standard flagged in writing, while there's still time to fix it.

The report outlives the renovation

You're not just buying an inspection. You're buying the only record of your waterproofing that will ever exist.

During the renovation — fix it while it's fixable Anything flagged gets rectified by your waterproofer before tiling, when it's a small job — not after, when it means ripping up a finished bathroom.
If there's ever a dispute — dated, independent evidence If a leak appears in two years, you hold a time-stamped, independent photo record of exactly what was installed. Not your word against the builder's.
When you sell — proof for the next buyer A documented, independently inspected renovation tells buyers the work was done properly — the parts they can't see included.
For your records — alongside the waterproofer's certificate Your waterproofer certifies their own work. Our report is the independent photographic record that sits beside it — captured before it disappeared under tiles.

"Won't my builder be offended?"

Good trades welcome it

A confident waterproofer has nothing to hide — and a clean independent report is written proof their work met the standard. It protects them as much as you.

It's standard practice

You wouldn't buy a house without a pest report. An independent check at the cover-up stage is the same familiar peace-of-mind step — not an accusation.

Resistance is information

In our interviews with renovators, most said the same thing: if a tradie objects to an independent set of eyes, that itself tells you something worth knowing.

Before you book

Isn't this what a building inspector does?

No. A general building inspector looks at everything briefly; most never see your waterproofing at all, because by the time they're engaged it's under tiles. We are waterproofing specialists who inspect at the one stage a generalist misses — after the membrane, before the tiles — and check it against AS 3740, the specific Australian standard for wet areas.

When exactly do I book you?

The moment your waterproofer gives you a date. The window between the final membrane coat and tiling is usually one to two days. Tell your tiler you have an independent inspection booked — it's one visit, it doesn't hold up the job, and we schedule around them.

What happens if you find a problem?

You get it in writing the same day, with photos, referenced to the standard — while it's still an easy fix for your waterproofer. That's the whole point of checking before the tiles go on. We flag and document; your waterproofer rectifies; you can book a re-check if you want the fix verified.

Do you do the flood test?

Your waterproofer conducts the flood test — it's their work being tested. We attend, verify it's set up properly, and document the result independently. That distinction is deliberate: it keeps our report independent, and it means nobody can later claim the test wasn't done right.

Do you fix waterproofing, or sell rectification work?

No — and that's the point. We don't quote repairs, we don't take rectification work, and we're not affiliated with your builder or tiler. Our only product is the independent record. That's what makes it worth having.

Who does the inspection?

Certified Waterproofing is run by licensed waterproofing professionals (NSW licence 460471C) and members of the Australian Institute of Waterproofing, inspecting across Greater Sydney. We document what we observe against the standard — clearly, photographically, and independently.

Book your inspection window

Tiling dates move fast — tell us where your renovation is up to and we'll confirm your window within one business day. No payment until the inspection is locked in.
